My story
My story of being an endurance athlete may be like yours. It was going so well until it wasn’t; Injury, performance plateau, hormone imbalance and questioning whether my body just couldn’t hack it anymore. They said I was getting old - and it was to be expected... I was 35. (OMG)
I was in a fight with my body. My fight led me to gain weight (6 size increase), fertility issues and a mental breakdown. I mentally and physically was done with any start lines. I feared the scale.
Then I read Roar by Dr. Stacy Sims. I had never learnt to fuel my body or train aligned with it. Everything changed. This book was the beginning of my exploration of how female athletes can train and thrive midlife.
Jennifer Leblanc
Jenn is a mother to three amazing daughters, engaged to a handsome soldier, and a breast cancer survivor. She is also a four-time Ironman, hiker, and lifelong lover of fitness. A certified triathlon coach, personal trainer, and Precision Nutrition graduate, Jenn brings both expertise and lived experience to her work.
Her fitness journey began in 2005 with simple bodyweight workouts, then grew into running and triathlon. Over seven years, she raced at an intense level, completing four Ironmans in three years. Balancing this training with divorce and single motherhood eventually led to injury and burnout.
When races shut down in 2020, Jenn turned to trail running and hiking, completing a 50 km ultramarathon in 2022. That same year, her life shifted dramatically with a diagnosis of stage 2 breast cancer. Overnight, she went from running ultra distances to struggling to climb stairs. Chemo and surgery left her weak, injured, and deeply depressed.
Determined to recover, Jenn designed a 16-week strength program that gradually rebuilt her fitness. That plan became The Ultimate Beginner Fitness Program.
Now, nearly a year post-treatment, she carries a new perspective on what it means to be Fit to Thrive. Jenn coaches women across Canada and the U.S., creating programs that honour individuality and treat every woman with respect and kindness.
