Meet Dr. Cathy Utzschneider
Cathy Utzschneider is a coach of coaches and athletes. Boston College’s professor of coaching, founder of the coaching practice MOVE! (www.movegoals.com), author of four books, and masters athlete, she believes that understanding the whole person as well as a specific sport produces best coaching and results. This belief is the center of the community of coaches and MOVE! goal achievement
certification that teaches skills and masters-level topics such as human development, physiology, excellence, goal achievement, resilience, habit, and positive psychology.
The MOVE! goal achievement workbook and lectures support the certification. Having coached individual runners and clubs, MOVE! coaching has produced eight Olympic trial marathon qualifiers, six world age-group records, 10 American age-group records, and 67 USA Track & Field (USATF) age-group champions. She herself has been a successful masters athlete.*
Cathy graduated with high honors in English from Middlebury College and then earned an M.A. in health science, an M.B.A. and an Ed.D. in physiology and performance from Boston University. Her doctoral dissertation compared national- and world-class masters runners who started running at a young age to those who started after 30. Living in Chestnut Hill, MA, she is married and has two grown children and two dogs.
